Yoga Nidra is a powerful technique by means of which we’ll learn to relax consciously, a valuable tool for personal growth and spiritual evolution.
This state of relaxation is reached when our consciousness separates from the experience of the outside (our senses) and from the sleep state, so that the mind quietens and becomes very powerful.
In this state we can improve our body’s schema, our ability to concentrate, develop memory, increase knowledge and creativity, discover our inner potential and restructure our mind.
Yoga Nidra can be translated as “psychic sleep” or “conscious sleep”. Yoga Nidra is a sistematic method to reach the physical, emotional and mental relaxation. It is a state of sleep with complete lucidity, where the mind remains at the frontier between wake and sleep, in which the conscience is working at both levels but doesn’t really connect to any of them. Since it is very hard to keep oneself in this state, there will be moments in which the conscience will stray towards the outside through the senses and we’ll wake up, and others where we’ll slip towards drowsiness and we’ll fall asleep. With practice, the conscience tends to stabilize at the “Nidra” level, the “conscious sleep” level. In this state, the mind is highly receptive and the conscience is working in a space where it can get in touch both with the unconscious and the subconscious, letting the potential that is kept in these deep levels of the mind to show.
In the Yoga Nidra workshop we will also suggest some work on the sankalpa, an affirmative resolution that can be used as a powerful tool of personal growth.
During its practice the conscious mind will raise its sankalpa to the subconscious mind, which is very receptive in these moments, so that it can later show at a conscious level, which will contribute changes to the personality and to our life.
Through self-observation we’ll recognise our inner world and will be able to clean it, find solutions to our problems and conflicts, and to open up to the possibility to fulfil and find our real goal.
